Student Projects
This page contains pictures of student projects. My hope is that it will spark an idea for you or encourage you to try it out for yourself. If you have any questions about the projects you see below, please feel free to e-mail me. I would love it if you would share what it is you are having your students do in your classroom. I subscribe to the B.A.S.E. theory (Borrow And Steal Everything). Feel free to take the ideas that you find here and tweak them to fit your own needs within your classroom.

Cave Paintings
Civil War Slavery Quilts
The students were directed to The Underground Railroad Quilt Code. The students had to create a quilt that would tell other slaves how they escaped to freedom. It would serve as a secret map detailing their treacherous journey north. The students created the above quilts and wrote a piece that explained the quilt. Their writing piece could be written either in essay form or they could create a creative writing piece that communicated the same information.
Colonial Tin Lanterns
If you would like to do this with your students, go to http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/How-to-make-a-colonial-tin-lantern and purchase the lesson plan that I created. It is only $1.00 and it will create a priceless memory for your students.
